I found a youtube channel called Croquis Cafe, where instead of just providing pictures of models they film the models doing a pose for a set amount of time. This is a study of the five minute pose in this video. This took a lot longer than five minutes so I used a website that loops youtube videos at the time stamps that you choose.
I’ve read that one of the key differences between painting from a photo and painting from life is that the model moves and the lighting changes. Because this was shot in a studio the light was constant but the model did move. This took some getting used to, especially as the shadows on her body would slowly change along with her movement.
I wasn’t too bothered about colour because I wanted to practice my drawing ability. It was difficult since I was using my smallest canvas panel (8″ x 10″).
